Emily Irene VanCamp who initially wanted to become professional dancer, became interested in acting when she visited her sister Katie in the making of the film Ladies Room. As she took acting classes, she also landed guest roles on Canadian TV shows. A few of the television shows she starred in include Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a huge career breakthrough when he was tapped to play regular Sam Dolan in WB's horror mystery series Glory Days. It was cancelled after nine episodes despite receiving positive review from the public. On May 12, 1986, the actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the major characters. Her part in the movie was rewarded with the film four Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
